Why are energy bills so high? Who makes decisions about our energy system? And what can we do about it?
Power to the People is an interactive energy justice training series that helps everyday people understand how our energy system works, why so many communities struggle with rising utility costs, and how we can work together to build a more affordable, equitable, and sustainable future.
Through storytelling, activities, discussion, and real-world examples, participants will explore the forces shaping our energy system, learn practical strategies to reduce energy burdens, and discover opportunities to organize for change in their communities. Whether you’re new to energy issues or looking to deepen your understanding, this training is designed to meet people where they are and move us from confusion and frustration toward collective action and hope.

Who we are
The New York Energy Democracy Alliance (EDA) is a statewide alliance of community-based organizations, grassroots groups, and policy experts working together to advance a just and participatory transition to a resilient, localized, and democratically controlled clean energy economy in New York State.
We envision a renewable energy system that is led by and prioritizes solutions for low- and moderate-income communities and communities of color who are most negatively impacted by our current energy and economic system. We transform our communities’ relationship to power through advocacy, organizing, job creation, coalition-building, policy research, and public education for an equitable, sustainable energy future.
